No Matter What You Call It: Dark Side Of The Moon, Dark Side of the Rainbow, Dark Side of OZ or The Wizard of Floyd It Is Incredibly Cool To Watch

I saw this on one of our favorite sites, Geek Tyrant, today and I had to post it.  Arguably one of the all-time best movies AND one of the best albums have been mashed up and synchronized to make BOTH even better.  Pink Floyd’s drug use is well documented but I believe that L. Frank Baum may have had a bit of the wacky tobaccy himself.  I mean really…flying monkeys?  COME ON!  The movie always scared me as a child but I can’t help imagine that if I had watched THIS version that things wouldn’t have seemed so scary.

Dark Side of the Rainbow also known as Dark Side of Oz or The Wizard of Floyd refers to the pairing of the 1973 Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon with the visual portion of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. This produces moments where the film and the album appear to correspond with each other. The title of the music video-like experience comes from a combination of the album title and the film’s song “Over the Rainbow”. Band members and others involved in the making of the album state that any relationship between the two works of art is merely a coincidence

Head on over to Geek Tyrant to learn all about the history of this infamous mash-up and then, like me, spend the rest of your day watching it with your speakers cranked up.
